Charming old hotel on a picture perfect street in the perfect area for eating, drinking, sightseeing and shopping. Rooms are small - it’s Paris! - but very comfortable- bed was terrific, breakfast was exceptionally good, staff are warm and helpful. Bathrooms can be tiny, but everything highly functional. We loved being just a few minutes from bustling Saint-Germaine, but on a quiet street with interesting shops. Wonderful restaurants, cafes and bistros abound. An old fashioned Parisian experience that we loved.

We (middle-aged couple) stayed here for 2 nights in June 2023. I chose the hotel because I like the area around it – and I had read the reviews. And they were so true! It is a small gem of a hotel! Location: it is right in the middle of a quiet street in Saint-Germain des Pres, but only 1-2 streets away from busy Bd. St Germain and other restaurant-and-café-sprinkled smaller neighbourhood streets. If you walk in the other direction you are at the Seine in 6 minutes. Super-central, yet the actual streets around the hotel really have a real village-y feel about them. Very charming contrast, and this is by far one of the best located hotels I have had the pleasure to have stayed in in Paris! The hotel itself: there is not a lof of space of course, but everything has been “thought through” so well that one hardly notices. The reception and breakfast area are very light and airy. All hotel rooms in central Paris are on the small side, but our room at the Marronniers was very cheerful and elegant, despite being small. All the décor was quite new, and the bathroom also very modern, clean, small – yes, but again well thought through. I could see on the fire escape plan that the other rooms on our floor were larger, but I would also happily stay in our room again. There is a small elevator (1 person), and the rooms have air conditioning. We did not need it as our room faced the shady courtyard and we found with just the window open we were OK – but perhaps in July/August in a proper “canicule” that is different. Last but certainly not least: the courtyard garden! A haven of peace, tranquility and friendly service. We were a family group of 4 (we had 2 rooms), and it was great to just have that area to meet up before sightseeing, our wait for the other party – or just wind down after an adventure-filled day. The very attentive reception staff will serve drinks. Speaking of the staff: they were ALL consistently very friendly and helpful, that made such a huge difference to our stay!! They all seemed to genuinely care about our well-being and us having a pleasant stay. More than anything else this would be a main reason for recommending the hotel – and staying there again. I’ve stayed at this hotel 5 times now and each time I’ve come away thinking that I have put up with a box room for quite a lot of money (£200 per night). I know it’s Paris and I know rooms are often small but I won’t be going back. The hotel is in the perfect location close to St Germain Dès Près métro and the area is full of bars and restaurants so you don’t need to go far in the evening. Also walkable to many major tourist sites. Message to hotel management :- Take some photos of the small rooms and put them on Booking.com and your own web site so that people have a better idea of what they are going to be put in.
